My recent trip to the Wiesbaden Christmas Market is good proof. Just a second, please. Let’s take a moment to celebrate Christmas Market season. Hoorah, with the sound of a long extended birthday blower sound! Ok, I’m out of breath. Moving on. At this single Christmas Market, I witnessed Potato Chips, Pommes Frites, and Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancake).
The motto for living in Germany is, “Where have you been all my life?” This is exactly what I was thinking, as I bit into a Kartoffelpuffer. The golden brown exterior is crunchy, but the inside is steaming hot and creamy. Sorry hash brown, I think you have been kicked off your potato pedestal. To bring this simple potato pancake to another level, Apple Mousse is served on the side. German’s are known for their planning, and this is one fabulous plan. The sweetness of the apple sauce is a good buffer for the über saltiness of the potato disc.
